Plan for Electing Representative to the AASA Governing Board
2018
One seat – for a three-year term commencing July 1, 2018
February 5, 2018 Open nominations to the AASA Governing Board
Required Qualifications of Eligible Nominees:
Eligible voting member of AASA for at least 3 years
VSA Member in good standing for at least 3 years
To ensure open and inclusive participation in the election process, state association leadership will encourage women and minorities to seek election to these positions.
March 5, 2018 Close nominations (nomination forms must be postmarked by March 6, 2018)
March 8, 2018 Verify eligibility of nominees (conducted by VSA and AASA)
March 9, 2018 Prepare and distribute ballots with return envelopes (by VSA)
March 26, 2018 Ballots due at VSA office
March 30, 2018 VSA staff count ballots. In case of a tie, the winner shall be elected by a
drawing.
Announce successful candidate to VSA membership. Submit name of VSA
representative to AASA.
In the event of a vacancy in the position of governing board representative, the President of the Vermont Superintendents Association may appoint a representative who meets the qualifications of the position to serve until the next regularly scheduled election for governing board representative or until the end of the term, whichever comes first. The interim representative may opt to run for election and, if successful, is eligible to serve up to two (2) full three-year terms.
Ballots will be kept for 90 days.
