Registration for the 2019/20 VSA Leadership Academy is now OPEN.
What: The 7th annual Vermont Superintendents Association Superintendents Leadership Academy.
The Academy, a professional development program for education leaders, provides valuable insights into the major responsibilities of the job of the superintendent and supports skill development in those areas. The Academy helps contextualize the work and provides meaningful exposure and support for responsibilities central to the superintendency.
Sample program areas include: Effective Leadership and Governance; Education Funding and Fiscal Management; HR, Labor Relations and Collective Bargaining; Media Relations; Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment; Education Law; Current Legislative Interests and Legislative Relations; Student Services and Special Education Systems; Risk Management; District Operations; Search Processes; Technology Education and Services; and more.
When: All-day sessions are held once a month (except February), September 2018 – June 2019

Who: The Academy is open to ALL Education Leaders, who might consider becoming a superintendent. It is also very beneficial to first-year Superintendents as they navigate their early tenure in the role and to Superintendents new to Vermont.
Where: All sessions are held at the VSBIT Training room off I-89 exit 7 in Berlin, VT.
Instructor Information: The Academy is directed by Dr. Michael Deweese, a career-long Vermont educator and retired superintendent with rich experience in board-superintendent relations and district operational systems. Mike is currently working as an education consultant supporting Act 46 unification processes and other special projects for school systems across Vermont.
Additional Academy instructors and presenters will be Vermont educational leaders and specialists with extensive expertise and experience in their content areas.
Cost: The program fee is $2,700. Program enrollment is limited to 20 and is open until filled.
