VSA Superintendent Leadership Academy
The Academy, a professional development program for education leaders, provides insights into the major responsibilities of the position of superintendent and supports skill development in those areas. The Academy helps contextualize the work and provides meaningful exposure and support for responsibilities central to the superintendency.
Examples of topics addressed include: Effective Leadership and Governance; The Vermont Funding System and Fiscal Management; Human Resources and Labor Relations; Instructional Leadership; Communications; Policy and Legislation; Crisis Management; District Operations; and more.
This year, the Academy will be directed by former superintendent Tracy Wrend, an experienced educator and superintendent who has served as an effective leader at the local, regional and statewide levels.
The Academy is open to ALL Education Leaders, who might consider becoming a superintendent. It is also very beneficial to first-year superintendents and to superintendents new to Vermont as they navigate their early tenure in the role.
Academy instructors and presenters will be Vermont educational leaders and specialists with extensive expertise and experience in their content areas.
